# Find your LinkedIn 2FA key

> Copy your LinkedIn authenticator secret key to set up Sign in + Auto-reconnect in FirstTouch.

With your LinkedIn 2FA key, FirstTouch can answer LinkedIn's security checks for you so your flows keep running. Use this guide when connecting an account with **Sign in + Auto-reconnect** in **Settings > User Accounts**.

## You'll need an authenticator app

LinkedIn's two-step verification must use an **Authenticator app**. Codes sent by text message won't work for this connection method. If you currently use text messages, switch to an authenticator app in [LinkedIn's two-step verification settings](https://www.linkedin.com/mypreferences/d/two-factor-authentication).

> [!NOTE]
>
> The **2FA key** is the secret key shown beneath LinkedIn's setup QR code. Copy that key into FirstTouch, rather than the temporary verification code generated by your authenticator app.

> [!WARNING]
>
> **Already use an authenticator app for LinkedIn?** LinkedIn only shows the key once. If you no longer have it, turn two-step verification off and on again to get a new key, then re-add LinkedIn in your authenticator app so you don't lose access. Complete LinkedIn's setup before returning to FirstTouch.

## Find and copy your key

**1. Choose Sign in + Auto-reconnect**

In FirstTouch, open **Settings > User Accounts**. Under **Social account**, click **Add account**, select **Sign in + Auto-reconnect**, and click **Continue**.

**2. Open LinkedIn's two-step verification settings**

Open [LinkedIn settings](https://www.linkedin.com/mypreferences/d/two-factor-authentication) and choose **Authenticator app**.

**3. Add LinkedIn to your authenticator app**

Scan LinkedIn's QR code with your authenticator app, as you normally would when setting up two-step verification.

**4. Copy the key beneath the QR code**

Copy the **key under the QR code**. That's what FirstTouch needs. Save it securely before leaving this screen, and follow LinkedIn's prompts to finish setting up two-step verification.

![LinkedIn two-step verification setup screen with a QR code and a red arrow highlighting the copy icon beside the secret key beneath it.](https://mintcdn.com/firsttouchinc/5-3h-ETdXnT69fFW/images/linkedin-2fa-key.png?fit=max\&auto=format\&n=5-3h-ETdXnT69fFW\&q=85\&s=90b346b5e3c4c412519c9c66fac5ee83)

LinkedIn authenticator setup, as shown in the FirstTouch connection drawer. Copy your own key beneath the QR code using the highlighted copy icon.

**5. Paste the key into FirstTouch**

Return to the FirstTouch drawer and click **I have my key**. Enter your **LinkedIn email** and **LinkedIn password**, then paste the copied secret into **LinkedIn 2FA key**.

Select the country where you usually log in, choose your **Conversations sync policy**, review the [safety checklist](https://docs.firsttouch.com/Safety-Checklist.md), and confirm the safety requirement before clicking **Connect**.

Keep your 2FA key private. Store it securely and avoid including it or its QR code in screenshots or support messages.

## Prefer another connection method?

You can skip the key setup and choose **Sign in with LinkedIn** instead. LinkedIn may ask you for a verification code during connection. See [Social Integration](https://docs.firsttouch.com/WebApp/Social/social-Integration.md) for connection and troubleshooting guidance.
