# Email Automation

> Understand connected inboxes, email steps, approvals, scheduling, tracking, and replies.

FirstTouch sends email through connected sender inboxes and Flow Plan email steps.

## What Email Automation Includes

Email automation can include:

* new-thread email steps
* reply-style follow-ups inside a Flow Plan
* approval-required email drafts
* sender Work Schedule checks
* email account capacity checks
* reply tracking that stops matching same-Team enrollments
* bounce and out-of-office handling
* HubSpot logging when configured

## Required Setup

Before email automation can run, confirm:

* the sender has a connected email account
* the sender has permission to send outreach for the Team
* the prospect has a usable recipient email
* the Flow Plan is valid and live
* required approval tasks are completed
* available credits cover the Flow Plan's maximum estimated run cost

## Daily Inbox Capacity

Each connected inbox has a configurable daily capacity that defaults to `300`. Available capacity subtracts both messages already sent and pending messages reserved for that day. FirstTouch also observes outbound messages sent outside FirstTouch from the same inbox.

For a FirstTouch send, the primary recipient and every CC or BCC recipient each consume one capacity unit. See [Sending and Scheduling](/WebApp/Email/Sending-and-Scheduling).
